Frequently Asked Questions
To join the program you must be at least 18 years of age from the date you enter the USA and you must have a clear criminal record. You will also need to be available from June through to around 20th August.
Firstly, we wouldn’t accept you onto our program if we weren’t confident of finding you a camp placement. Camp placements can take some time, and camps will still be looking for staff in May and June, so there is always time! Before getting placed you will only have paid the £75 deposit, but this will be refunded to you if you do not get placed. Terms and conditions apply.
This is a summer program, so you will need to be free during the months of June, July and August. All camps have their own required dates for their staff, but most camps run between mid June to mid August. The longer you are available the more camps become available to you.
If a camp has a job role available which matches your skill set they may want to place you under review and offer an interview. Should the camp offer you a posiiton after interviewing you have the choice whether to accept their offer or not.
We always recommend that you interview with any camp that shows interest in hiring you to gain more information about the specifics of that camp and the job role you are being considered for before making a decision whether or not it is a good fit for you.
Work Play USA will guide you through the visa application. Upon acceptance onto our program you will have to upload a number of documents to us that are required to apply for the visa paperwork. Once you have been placed by a camp, paid all of your fees and uploaded all of the required documents we will then apply for the DS2019 visa paperwork and get it sent directly to you. Once you receive your DS2019 visa paperwork we will also guide you on how to complete the online DS160 form and book your US Embassy appointment. Once your embassy appointment is booked we will also send you guidance on what you need to take to your appointment. The Embassy appointment itself is fairly straightforward. Don’t worry, we will break it down to be as simple as possible for you.

We don’t recommend you book your flights until your visa has been approved by the US Embassy. Remember, when booking flights you might want to consider the travel guidelines issued by your camp. You may also want to consider the amount of time you would like to travel in America after your camp contract when booking flights home. You have a maximum of 30 days in America after your camp contract to travel and see the sights.
This depends on whether or not your camp requires a medical check. Work Play USA does not require a medical check to be completed by a GP, but many camps in America will have their own checks in place. If your camp requires a medical exam this will be at your expense.
Most camps will collect you directly from the airport on your arrival date. Before booking flights you should liase directly with your camp as they will be offer guidenace on travel dates and the easiest airport to fly into.
If a camp doesn’t collect you directly from the airport they will advise on how to get to camp.
You will be provided with comprehensive medical insurance for the full duration of your camp contract. This medical insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions.
Should you choose to travel around America before and/or after camp you should source additional medical and travel insurance.
